Eager to avoid an unwanted marriage, Margaret disguises herself as a boy and manages to get hired as a cabin boy on a merchant ship. What follows is a hilarious and exciting adventure as she joins the world of men. But how long can she keep her secret? Does she want to keep her secret? Her feelings for the Captain Todd Withers begin to make her think otherwise...What intrigued me about this book was that the author tells us in her introduction that this novel is based on journals the author found in an old trunk. I'm curious as to how much dramatic license the author took, but unfortunately she doesn't tell us.
I did enjoy this book a lot. However the many inaccurate uses of words detracted greatly from the story. For instance, a "manor of speaking". And a " sequal" instead of "a sequel", " their" instead of "there", etc, etc. There were tons of these kinds of errors, along with typical punctuation and grammatical errors. I'd say every page has a good four or five mistakes in it. The entire book needs a thorough editing.
My other complaint was that this book was very long, and at times it seemed to drag a bit. And if you want to find out what really happens to Margaret, you're forced to buy the four hundred page long sequel, which I'm not planning on paying ten dollars for.
Overall, I did like it, but not one of my favorites.

What can I say, I couldn't stop reading this book, it was so good. The h was wonderful, what spunk! The book was mostly about her, not too much about the H. It was VERY entertaining. The classic girl dressed as a boy is always a fun read. I do most heartily recommend.
